3D print and CAD

From concept to design to prototype and in some cases to production. I have been involved in many ways with CAD and 3D printing as a prototyping tool.

3D print technology gets me excited. Only today (27/05/2022) I read a blog where a super car manufacturer was using machine learning and AI to design suspension and structural components which could then be 3D printed as hollow units for production. The parts looked absolutely wacky but the software has done its job and in no way could these parts be designed to be lighter or stronger within the required specifications and no other way of building them would be possible with any casting or fabrication techniques known today.
